English 7 and 8 - Vocab unit 31 - quiz on Thursday.  We will spend this week preparing for our exam next week.  Please review your literary and grammar terms every night!  We will have a quiz on 1-30 on Monday and 1-38 on Tuesday.

Reading - We will read two short stories this week:  "The Mustache"  and "The Fan Club".  We will have a quiz on both of these.

Monday is Honor's Day at 10:00a.m. in the cafetorium.

May 6

English 7 and 8 - Flash cards are needed on Monday for literary and grammar definitions.  We will work on these for the next two weeks and have small quizzes several times in preparation for the exam.  We will also be reviewing for the exam - subjects and predicates, parts of speech, usage, capitalization, and punctuation.  Please spend time each day reviewing.

We will also work on vocab lesson 30.

Next Monday is awards day at 10:00a.m.

Reading - We will finish "All But my Life" and read 'The Landlady'

English 7 - We will finish our punctuation unit and take the test on Wednesday.  We will also work on vocab unit 29 - quiz on Thursday.  We will begin our unit on sentence combining later in the week.

English 8 - Test on punctuation unit on Wednesday. Vocab quiz 29 on Thursday.  We will continue working on timed essay writing.

Reading - Finish and test on The Most Dangerous Game.  We will begin reading The Necklace.  We will also work on reading and analyzing poetry.

FCS needs to bring five dollars by Thursday for our end-of-the-year party next week.

English 7 - This week we will continue to work on commas.  Students must know the comma rules.  We will also work on semicolons and colons and quotation marks.  Students will also finish their narrative writing.  Vocab lesson 27 quiz on Thursday.

English 8 - Students will work on writing an answer to an essay question.  We will also work on commas (must know the rules) and semi-colons, colons, and quotation marks.  Vocab 27 quiz on Thursday.

Reading - We will finish reading The Giver this week.

April 8-12, 2013

English 7 - There will be no vocabulary this week.  We will continue with poetry and other writing.  We will also begin our unit on punctuation - starting with end marks and commas.

English 8- We will have SAT 10 testing on Monday and Wednesday.  There will be no vocabulary this week.  We will begin our unit on punctuation and writing a response to an essay question.

Reading - We will continue reading The Giver.

Students in 7th and 8th grade will attend a program given by Holocaust survivor Max Herzel on Monday afternoon.

English 7 - We will have a test on troublesome words on Wednesday.  Vocabulary lesson 26 quiz will be on Friday.  We will be working on poetry this week and will right a haiku and forms of invented poetry.

English 8 - Test on troublesome words on Wednesday.  Vocabulary lesson 26 quiz will be on Friday.  We will also continue to review for the SAT 10 next week.

Reading - We will continue with The Giver.  Creed projects are due on Friday.

Reminder that next Monday the 8th grade will attend a presentation by Holocaust survivor Max Herzel at 1:00.
