English 7 - We will have vocabulary lesson 18 again this week.  The quiz is on Thursday.  We will also be working on some compare/contrast writing as well as beginning grammar unit 14 on clauses.

English 8 - Final research papers are due on Friday.  We will work in class on these; however, students will need to work outside of class due to missed days of school.  Vocabulary quiz 18 will be Friday.

Reading - We will work on chapters 10 and 11 this week.  We will also have a quiz on this on Wednesday.  We will be watching  The Great Gatsby this week.  We will also prepare for our test on Part 1 of our novel.  This test will be next MONDAY.  Please be prepared.

The 8th grade will go to the Shakespeare Festival this Thursday.  Please dress accordingly!  We will leave school at 8:15 and return at approx. 1:00.

English 7 - Parents - Please make sure that your child is studying how to spell his vocabulary words each week.  This is part of the quiz and the students are not doing well on this portion.  Since this is the seventh grade, I do not assign "spelling practice".  The children are old enough now to be responsible for doing this on their own and for learning positive study techniques.  Thank you for helping your child to learn this practice.

This week we are on vocabulary lesson 17.  The quiz will be on Friday.  We will also finish our contest papers.  The final paper is due Thursday.  We will be working on learning syntax techniques.  There will be vocabulary words associated with this.  Your child is responsible for learning these and being able to identify examples of each.

English 8 - Vocabulary lesson 18 - quiz on Friday.  We will complete the outline and begin rough drafts for our research paper this week.  Please have a jump drive.

English 7 - This week we will continue to work on our papers.  If I meet with your child Monday, his typed copy is due Wednesday.  If I meet with your child on Tuesday, his typed copy is due Thursday. We will be revising this paper several times so please be sure that your printer has ink and paper.  Thanks!  During class time we will be working on several sentence combining exercises.  We will also work on vocabulary lesson 16 - the quiz will be on Thursday.

English 8 - We will continue with our research papers this week.  All note cards are due on Wednesday.  We will then begin to work on our outline and rough draft.  Your child may need to complete research outside of school to finish on time.  We have vocab lesson 16 this week - quiz on Thursday.

Reading - We are continuing with Mockingbird this week.  There will be several vocabulary and study guide quizzes this week.

English 7 - This week we will be working on our papers.  A typed copy of the paper will be due on Thursday.  We will also work on vocab lesson 15.  The quiz will be Thursday as usual.

English 8 - We will begin our research papers this week.  Your child needs a pocket folder with brads and a packet of 5 X7 index cards Monday.  We will also work on vocab lesson 15 with the quiz on Thursday.

Reading - We will begin reading To Kill a Mockingbird this week.  Quizzes as appropriate for this.

English 7 - We will work on adverbs this week and will finish unit 12.  Our nine weeks exam will cover this unit.  We will have a quiz on adjectives and adverbs on Wednesday and our vocabulary quiz on Thursday.  We will begin to review for the exam on Friday and into next week.  We will also have our Christmas cookie exchange next Monday.

English 8 - We will finish unit 12 this week discussing adverbs.  There will be a quiz on adjectives and adverbs on Wednesday and a vocabulary quiz on Thursday.  We will begin our exam review on Friday.  The exam will cover unit 12.  We will have our Christmas cookie exchange next Monday.

Reading - The Giver test will be Tuesday.  We will read several short stories this week and these will be the exam topic.

English 7 - This week we will work on adjectives.  There will be a quiz on comparative and superlative adjectives on Friday.  Vocab lesson 13 this week - quiz on Thursday.  We will also be working on a writing assignment.  Ideas and outlines should be completed by Friday - this will be done IN CLASS ONLY.

English 8 - We will work on adjectives - quiz on comparative and superlative forms on Friday. Vocab 13 this week - quiz on Thursday.  We will have a creative writing assignment this week.

Reading - We should finish The Giver this week.  Don't forget Creed projects are due on Friday.
