English 7 - Vocabulary lesson 24 - quiz on Thursday.  This week we will work on elements of poetry and write several different types of poems.

English 8 - Wordly Wise lesson 2 - quiz on Thursday.  We will review for SAT's this week.  We will also take one portion of the exam this Wednesday morning.

Reading - We will review TKM and prepare for the final test which will cover the entire novel.

REMINDER:  We will be going to see Noah this Friday.  We will leave school at approx. 8:45 and return at approx. 12:00.  All money is due Monday, March 31.  Anyone not paying by this date will not be able to attend.

March 17-21

English 7 - Vocabulary lesson 23 - quiz on Friday.  Unit 16 - test on Thursday.

English 8 - Wordly Wise quiz on Friday.  Unit 16 test on Thursday.

Next week is Spring Break.  8th grade needs to bring in a Pringles can by this Friday.

SAT testing will begin the Wednesday we return from Spring Break.

March 10, 2013

English 7 - Nine weeks test on Tuesday.  This will be on simple, compound, and complex sentences as well as verbals.  Everything on the test is a review of previous units.  There will be no vocabulary this week.  We will begin unit 16 on subject-verb agreement on Wednesday.

English 8 - The nine weeks test is on Tuesday.  This will be a review of lesson 14 and 15 - complex sentences and verbals.  There will be no vocabulary lesson this week.  We will begin lesson 16 on subject-verb agreement on Wednesday.

Reading - We should read through chapter 26 by Friday.  We will have several journal writing assignments this week.

Reminder - School will dismiss at 12:30 on Friday for the Jonah McWaters Tournament.

Every 8th grader needs to have one regular-size Pringles can for our time capsule project when we return from Spring Break.

English 7 - Vocabulary lesson 22 this week.  Quiz on Thursday.  Unit test on verbals on Tuesday.  We will also be working on writing and paper editing this week as well as beginning to review for our nine weeks test next Tuesday.

English 8 - Wordly Wise lesson 20 this week.  Quiz on Thursday.  Verbals unit test on Tuesday.  Work on narrative writing and story development.  Also we will begin nine weeks test review.

Reading - We will read through chapter 22 in TKM this week.  Quizzes as appropriate.

English 7 - Vocabulary lesson 21 this week.  Quiz on Thursday.  We will study verbals this week.  The test will be on Friday.  Students must be able to write a grammatically correct sentence using each type of verbal.

English 8 - Wordly Wise lesson 19.  Quiz on Thursday.  Students will study verbals this week.  The test will be on Friday.  Students must be able to write a grammatically correct sentence using each type of verbal.

Reading - We will continue with TKM.

English 7 - We will study vocabulary lesson 20 this week. The quiz will still be on Thursday.  We will conclude our unit on clauses - the test will be Friday.  There will also be a daily clause quiz on Wednesday and Thursday.

English 8 - We will study Wordly Wise lesson 18 this week.  The quiz is on Thursday.  Clause test will be on Friday.  There will also be a daily clause quiz on Wednesday and Thursday.

Reading - We will continue with Mockingbird.  There will be a vocab and study guide quiz this week on Chapters 12-14.  Character sketches are due Tuesday.

Permission slips will go home Wednesday to attend Noah. Please sign and return on Thursday.  Also indicate whether or not you can drive for this trip.  Thanks.

English 7 - We will study vocabulary lesson 19 this week.  Quiz on Thursday as usual.  We will also be studying grammar unit 14 on clauses and complex sentences.  There will be a quiz Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday this week on clauses. Please work on identifying subordinating conjuctions as well as adjective, adverb, and noun clauses.

English 8 - This week we will be using a different vocabulary lesson.  Your child has a packet for this.  The quiz will still be on Thursday.  We will also study clauses and complex sentences.  There will be a quiz on this on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Reading - We will finish Part I of TKM.  We will have a test on this portion on Thursday.  We will also discuss our character sketches project.

Students may bring treats for a small party on Friday.  We will still be studying and completing classwork that day.
