October 30, 2012

English 7 - Vocabulary Lesson 11 - Quiz on Thursday.  We will write a paragraph with our vocabulary words this week instead of sentences.  Papers are due Monday, October 30.  We will begin a poetry lesson and write poems with a typed copy due on Thursday.   Thursday we will also begin our unit on verbs.

English 8 - Vocabulary Lesson 11 - Quiz on Thusday.  We will write a paragraph with our vocabulary words this week instead of sentences.  We will continue to edit our papers.  Final copies due on Tuesday.  We will begin writing poetry with a typed copy due on Thursday.  We will also begin our lesson on verbs on Thusday.

Reading - Quiz Monday on Charlotte Doyle.  We will read through chpt.12 and we will have another quiz on Friday.  We will also have daily journal assignments.


Fall Festival is on Tuesday - Reminder to be here if you signed up to work the moon walk.  We can always use more volunteers!!

SGA Shoe Box - We need items - Our box is empty!!  These items are due by Wednesday, October 31.  We also need $7.00 to cover the cost of shipping.

Patriot Marketplace - We are collecting stationary items and need these by November 30.

October 15-19

English 7 - This we we will have a unit test on vocabulary lessons 1-9 on Thursday.  This should be a review as your child has already learned these words.  We will be reviewing these words in class all week.  Please study each night!  We will also be working on a persuasive essay on drugs.  Most of the work will be done in class; however, the final copy will need to be typed outside of class.

English 8 - Same as English 7

Reading - We will finish "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" with a quiz on this on Wednesday and begin our next novel The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle.

HOMEROOM INFO:  We are working on operation Christmas child - please bring in your items for this by October 31st.

 $2.00 for report cards is due.

$2.00 for Homecoming is due.  The theme for homecoming is Homecoming for the Holidays. 
     Monday - wear red or pink for Valentines
     Tuesday - Halloween costumes - NO MASKS
     Wednesday - Christmas Tacky Dress
      Thursday - Homecoming T-Shirt and dress with class theme
      Friday - "Sunday Church" Attire

We also need helpers for the Fall Festival.  We will be working the moon walk from 6:00 to 7:00. Thanks!!

Reading - We will review The Lottery.  We will also read I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings.  We will also discuss how to properly format a response to a composition question.

Journalism - We will post our first blog and get ready to launch the site this week.  Articles for next week are due on Friday.

REMINDERS:

FCS T-shirt money is due by Thursday.

No School next Mon.-Wed. for fall break.

English 7 - This week we will work on persuasive writing.   We will also try to begin our unit on nouns later in the week.  We will work on lesson 7 in vocabulary.

English 8 - We will continue to work on our Red Ribbon writing.  We will also begin working on nouns this week.  We will cover lesson 7 in vocabulary.

Reading - We will finish The Pigman this week and take our final test on Wednesday.  We will begin a writing assignment later this week dealing with this novel.

Journalism - We will begin our blog this week.

Don't forget to buy your Homecoming T-shirts  and FCS shirts.

I will be at a journalism field trip on Thursday.
