English 7 - Vocab Lesson 22 this week - quiz on Thursday.  Subject/verb agreement test on Tuesday.  We will begin our unit on verbals this week.  Participial quiz on Friday.

English 8  - Vocab lesson 22 this week - quiz on Thurday.   Subject/verb agreement test on Tuesday.  We will begin our unit on verbals this week.  Participial quiz on Friday.  We will work on writing topic sentences this week.

Reading - Review of novel this week.  Novel test on Wednesday.  We will begin our unit on Edgar Allen Poe this week and will read "The Tell-Tale Heart".

February 19, 2013

English 7 - No vocabulary this week.  We will work on unit 16 in our grammar books on subject and verb agreement.  We will also write alternate fairy tale endings this week.

English 8 - No vocabulary this week.  We will work on unit 16 in our grammar books on subject verb agreement.  We will also work on our personal mandala projects.  This will be done in class.

Reading - We will finish mocking bird this week. Look to have a test on this novel on Friday or next Monday.

English 7 - Vocab Lesson 21 this week.  We will also be working on types of sentences.  The test on this unit will be Friday.  Be certain you know the difference between subordination and coordination.  Know FANBOYS.

English 8 - Vocab Lesson 21 this week.  Sentences types this week - this unit covers complex sentences and clauses.  Know FANBOYS.  The test will be on Friday.

Reading - I hope to finish the novel on Friday.  We will complete all remaining vocab sections and study guide questions this week.

February 4

English 7 - Vocab Lesson 20 this week with a quiz on Thursday.  We will have an adjective and adverb quiz Tuesday and the unit test will be on Friday.  We will also begin working on writing sentences with coordination and subordination.

English 8 - Vocab lesson 20 this week with a quiz on Thusday.  We will have an adjective and adverb quiz on Tuesday and the unit test will be on Friday.  We will also work on writing argumentative essay with concession and counterargument.

Reading - We will have a test on Mockingbird chapters 15-21 on Wednesday.  We should read through chapter 24 this week.

January 28

English 7 - Vocab 19 lesson this week  - quiz on Thursday.  We will work on adjectives  and adverbs this week.  There will be a quiz of common adverbs on Friday.

English 8 - Argumentative Essay.  Vocab lesson 19 - quiz on Thursday.  We will also work on adjectives and adverbs with a quiz on common adverbs on Thursday.

Reading - We will read through chapter 18.  Vocab quiz on chapters 12-14 Tuesday.  Study guide quiz on chpts. 12-14 on Wednesday.  Vocab quiz on chpts. 15-17 on Thursday.

PARENTS -- Please, please, please, we are in dire need of paper towels and EXPO board cleaner.  My board does not erase without the use of these items each and every time.  Your donation is greatly appreciated!

January 22-25

7th Grade English - We will finish our Mayor for a Day essays.  Final copies will be due to me Friday morning at 8:00.  I must have two copies. There must be a cover sheet with your name and Pike Liberal Arts PAPER CLIPPED to your paper.  Please DO NOT write your name anywhere on your paper.  The paper needs to be single-spaced, 12 point font and be only one page in length.

We will conclude our unit on pronouns.  The test will be next Monday (this is subject to change).  Our vocab unit is lesson 19.   The quiz is Friday.

English 8 - We will work on an argumentative essay this week as well as adjectives.  We will study vocab lesson 19 and have a quiz on Friday.  We will also travel to Troy University on Tuesday for a presentation on the Holocaust.

Reading - We will continue with Mockingbird.  We have a quiz on vocabulary on Tuesday and will have a study guide quiz on Wednesday or Thursday.

The eighth grade will be traveling to Troy University on Tuesday, January 22, from 9:00a.m. until 11:00a.m. to see a presentation about the Holocaust.  If you are able to drive, please let me know asap.
