WORDLY WISE LESSON 8 THIS WEEK - Quiz on Thursday

English 7 - Essays are due today.  We will be working with pronouns this weeks.

English 8 - Verb tense quiz and "Tell-Tale Heart" quiz today.  We will read "The Raven" this week.  The test on this will be on Friday.

English 9 - Propaganda projects are due today.  We will read chapter 6 this week.  There will be a quiz on chapters 4-6 on Friday.

PLEASE BRING IN ITEMS FOR OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD BY TUESDAY!

November 10-14, 2014

NO WORDLY WISE THIS WEEK

THERE WILL BE NO SCHOOL ON TUESDAY DUE TO VETERAN'S DAY

English 7 - This week we will be working on writing essays. We will learn about writing thesis statements, transition words, and proper paragraphing.  We will also work on participial phrases and correct punctuation with these.  There will be on quiz on this on Friday.

English 8 - We will complete essays on Monday.  We will then begin our study of Edgar Allen Poe.  This week we will study his life and read "The Tell-Tale Heart".  The test on this will be on Friday.

English 9 - We will complete chapters 4 and 5 this week.  We will also review essay writing for the propaganda project.  We will work on participial phrases.  REMINDER  - THE PROPAGANDA PROJECT IS DUE NEXT MONDAY, NOVEMBER 17!

November 3-7

WORDLY WISE LESSON 7 THIS WEEK.  QUIZ IS ON THURSDAY.

English 7 - We will have a test on Wednesday on the second portion of the chapter on verbs.  Students will need to know the verb tense chart from memory.  We will then begin working on writing essays.

English 8 - We will be working on writing essays this week.  We will also review verb tenses and participial phrases.

English 9 - We will have a test on chapters 1-3 of Animal Farm on Wednesday.  We will read chapter 4 and research dictators and tyrants throughout history.  We will also exam the use of propaganda in the novel.

October 27 - 31, 2014

THIS WEEK IS HOMECOMING.  DON'T FORGET THE PARADE AND BONFIRE ON THURSDAY NIGHT.  STUDENTS WILL NEED TO MEET AT THEIR FLOAT BEHIND THE HOSPITAL AT 5:45

THERE WILL BE NO WORDLY WISE THIS WEEK.

English 7 - We will carry on with our study of verb tenses.  There will be a quiz on the verb tense chart on Tuesday.  This must be memorized!  There will also be a quiz on irregular verbs on Thursday.

English 8 - We will finish our study of "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" this week.  There will be a test on this on Tuesday.  Students will review on Monday.  We will then begin our study of Edgar Allen Poe.

English 9 - Students will read through chapter 3 of Animal Farm.  We will also evaluate historical point of view as well as researching dictators and tyrants.  There will be a test on chpts. 1-3 on Thursday.

ALL CLASSES WILL HAVE WORDLY WISE THIS WEEK.  QUIZ ON LESSON 6 IS ON THURSDAY.

English 7 - We will finish writing our poems this week.  Wednesday we will have a test on "The Witch" and elements of poetry.  Thursday we will return to our unit on verb tenses.

English 8 - We will be studying Washington Irving's "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow".  There will be a test on this on Friday.  Absolute Phrase poems are due this Monday.

English 9 - We will be studying chapters 2 and 3 of Animal Farm.  We will also begin to learn about propaganda techniques.  There will be a project on this assigned on Friday.

WE WILL HAVE WORDLY WISE NEXT WEEK - All classes are on lesson 6.

English 7 - We will continue our analysis of "The Witch".  We will be writing our own poems.

English 8 - We will be writing poems with absolute poems.

English 9 - Students will be working on AP style essays in conjunction with Animal Farm.

Nine weeks exams are this week.  These will all be units tests that count once for me.  Please check your exam schedule for days and times.

English 7 - We will begin working on poetry and literary elements this week.

English 8 - We will learn absolute phrases and write poetry using different types of phrases

English 9 - We begin reading Animal Farm this week!
