March 30, 2015

All classes will have Wordly Wise lesson 16 this week.  Quizzes will be on Thursday.

English 7 - We will finalize our persuasive writing this week.  The final typed copy is due on Thursday.  We will work on subject-verb agreement this week as well.

English 8 - We will begin Roll of Thunder, Hear my Cry this week.  A 2-3 paragraph report on share cropping and Jim Crow laws is due on Wednesday.

English 9 - We will continue with Romeo and Juliet.  All students should also have a copy of Night.  The first chapter must be read by next Tuesday.

March 16-20, 2015

There will be NO Wordly Wise this week.

English 7 - Students will be working on persuasive writing.  They should be researching their topic and finding statistical and factual information to support their argument.

English 8 - Students will be SAT 10 testing this week.

English 9 - Students will finish their overview of Elizabethan and Shakespearean history.  There will be a test on this on Wednesday.  We will also read through Act I of Romeo and Juliet.

March 9 - 13, 2015

FRIDAY IS A HALF-DAY  - Jonah McWaters Tournament

English 7 - Our nine weeks test will be on Wednesday.  It will cover the unit on grammar usage and troublesome words.  We will also be working on persuasive writing this week.

English 8 - We will be reviewing for SAT testing this week.  Tests will be Monday thru Thursday next week.

English 9 - We will finish studying the excerpt from Night this week.  Our nine weeks test will be on Thursday for 5th period and Friday for 4th period.

March 2-6, 2015

No Wordly Wise this week.

English 7 - We will work on troublesome words and correct usage this week.  The test will be on Friday.

English 8 - We will review "Lamb to the Slaughter".  The test on this will be on Wednesday.  We will then do a brief review of capitalization rules.  Next week we will be reviewing SATs which will be taken the week before spring break.

English 9 - We will begin our unit on the Holocaust - we will watch two documentaries and read Elie Wiesel's Night.
